The Future of Higher Education in the Age of Disruption

[APPLAUSE] So when MIT decided to commit to creating the MIT Stephen A. Schwarzman College of Computing, it was clear to us that this was what we needed to do. What was less clear to us was exactly how we should do it. In a somewhat uncharacteristic fashion for an academic institution, we basically decided that we should simply declare our intentions to establish this college, then set about the business of creating the college together as a community. In that context, it seemed entirely appropriate that we convene an event like this to discuss how to teach computer science, not only amongst ourselves, but with experts and friends from other institutions. We also recently created five working groups that are contemplating various aspects of the College. Many of the members of those working groups are here to listen and learn today. Ayok kita kembali ke pelajaran SD.

Jadi gini, tadi pagi ngeliat postingan di salah satu group Facebook yg isinya tuh nanya 1 + 2 x 3 tuh jawabannya apa.. Jadi jawaban dari member"nya beragam banget mulai dari 7 , 8 , 9 , bahkan ampe ada yg 15, gak tau gimana ngitungnya deh.


Udah pasti banget kan jawabannya 7? Trus yg anehnya kok jawabannya beragam ya? Emang, jawaban yg memungkinkan dari pertanyaan 1 + 2 x 3 itu cuma 7 , sama 9 .. Tapi gak mungkin kan satu pertanyaan punya 2 jawaban, karna semua jawaban dari penghitungan Matematika itu sifatnya PASTI .. Soal pertanyaan semacam gitu rumusnya daridulu ampe sekarang ya begitu aja, dan jawabannya tetap 7 sesuai ama hukumnya Matematika yg masih berlaku dari dulu ampe sekarang..

Tapi mungkin kalo cuma jawab 7, ada aja yg nanya "kok bisa?" gitu kali ya.. Tapi ya gitu deh tiap orang ada persepsi masing".. Tapi ya itu, Matematika tuh ilmu pasti, gak bisa ngejawab berdasar persepsi. Kalo menurut pada ilmu Matematika, rumus ama logikanya itu gini.

Udah "rule of game"-nya Matematika kalo jawaban dari pertanyaan diatas tuh 7.. Di Matematika tuh ada "unwritten rule" yg nyatakan urutan prioritas, yaitu (dari yg tertinggi):

pangkat >> kali >> tambah ,
akar >> bagi >> kurang .

Trus zaman SD pernah denger juga gak istilah "kabataku" ? Atau kali bagi tambah kurang, yg artinya kali & bagi lebih kuat daripada tambah & kurang .. Kalo gak percaya coba kita maen indirect proof & logika-in deh..

1+2x3 = 7 , atau 1+2x3 = 9 , hayo bener yg mana ?

Mari utak atik 2x3 itu.
Kalo 1+2x3 = 7 itu bener (perkalian diutamakan) , berlaku sifat komutatif & subtraction gini (itung yg perkalian dulu):
1+2x3-1 = 7-1
Jadi , 2x3 = 6 ..

Sekarang, kalo 1+2x3 = 9 yg bener (itung terobos), kita bikin kayak diatas lagi :
1+2x3-1 = 9-1
Jadi , 2x3 = 8 ..

Kalo mau yg simple lagi, analogikan dalam bentuk uang.
Pecahan Rp.1.000 ada 1 lembar , Rp.20.000 ada 2 lembar.. Total?

Rumusnya jadi : 1.000 + 2 x 20.000 . kalo perkalian didahulukan (sesuai rule) jawaban totalnya ya bener Rp.41.000 (logis ya?) .. Coba kalo itungnya pake metode terobos ya jadi absurd, Rp.20.040.000.

Jadi untuk pertanyaan diatas tuh , itu itungannya ya pake rule of game-nya Matematika yg punya hukum pasti yaitu :
1 + (2 x 3) = 7 .

kadang ada yg bilang ,
"itu berarti pertanyaannya yg salah , harusnya dikasih tanda kurung"

Tapi perasaan nih, gue dari SD guru ngajarin gak pernah pake kurung, ya polos gitu aja (kecuali di buku LKS , kadang dikasih tanda kurung), bahkan ampe SMA belajar akutansi dsb ya begitu aja.. Tapi murid"-nya ya yg dituntut untuk pinter & nalar sendiri, gimana rule of game itungannya itu..

Biasa guru ngasih tanda kurung sebagai pengingat aja sih, lama kelamaan guru" itu mau melatih daya ingat murid"-nya kali dengan melepas tanda kurung, dengan tujuan "masih inget gak ama itung-itungan gitu?" hahahaha ..

Dan ternyata terbukti ya sekarang, itung"-an semacam gitu malah diperdebatkan karna gak ada tanda kurungnya wakakakakak.. Yah gak usah cari siapa yg salah, kurungnya lah gurunya lah, yg harus pinter ya kita sendiri gimana metode penghitungan semacam itu.

Dan gue juga yakin, sepertinya berbagai grup / page di semua medsos yg ngasih pertanyaan kayak gini emang sengaja aja pengen banyak di comment ama follower"nya, dan pastinya semakin banyak perdebatan di comment semakin rame juga post-nya hahaha..

Silahkaaan kalo ada masukan lainnya ya (y)

ini mau bagi" ilmu aja nih , gak ada maksud apa" .. jadi gue mau membandingkan 3 Agama Samawi yaitu Yahudi , Islam , & Kristen . eits sabar dulu , "membandingkan" disini maksudnya membandingkan soal konsep Ketuhanan , kitab suci , dsb .. bukan membandingkan mana yg bener mana yg salah , kalo bahas begituan gak akan selese" sampe kiamat juga . kalo ada salah penjelasan mohon koreksinya ya , ini tak ambil dari berbagai sumber .. kadang 1 sumber ama yg lainnya agak sedikit ada bedanya gitu .

jadi mungkin pertanyaan awal ,"apa sih Agama Samawi itu?" . agama samawi bisa disebut juga agama Abrahamik .. yaitu : "setiap agama yg muncul dari suatu tradisi semit kuno bersama & yg ditelusuri oleh para pemeluknya kepada Abraham (dalam Kristen) , atau Avraham (dalam Yahudi) , atau Ibrahim (dala…
